This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Rixer likes nothing more than being the most mischievous and lively of the bunch. He looks up to the older and ill-behaved vampires and tends to mimic them, being a great nuisance to every vampire which has gotten this little guy almost killed on several occasions by his own irritated clan members. He likes to play rough with the other young vampires but he tends to play with Simria the most, since both are nearly the same age. He also has a bad habit of biting on his clan-mates' tails and scratching up the new arrivals out of the loss of attention. Though he works the nerves of all of his elders and the younger dragons, he is still loved and equally cared for.
