Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gesalt derives his name from the title of a poem written by a German psychiatrist. Originally spelled "Gestalt", Soulskimmers missed the "t" when Keepers wondered nearby sending her into la-la land. When she awoke from the dream, the ink had already dried and thus he was named Gesalt. His egg fell from the sky and hit Sunshinehappyhappyfunfun on the head (ensuring a future hatred for the dragon). He pays no attention to Soulskimmers and only thinks of her as the "pathetic village dragon girl who serves me food". Nevertheless he has some decent respect towards soulskimmers and sometimes listens to her pleas to being whatever type of weather she wishes for. As for the villagers of Farlem, he enjoys watching them suffer through: droughts, strong winds, and other natural disasters. He lives in the sky and comes down every so often to eat and be entertained.
