Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Taiyo's living caverns are full of little light mana crystal lamps, precision-calibrated to track the position of the moons and sun. With the help of a few family members, he's been able to develop some reliable models that are powered by tiny fragments of time mana. As a bit of an insomniac, Taiyo likes being able to just glance at one of his lamps to ascertain the position of the sun in the sky, if he happens to wake up in the middle of the day. Sometimes he finds himself unable to get back to sleep and just counting down the hours until his lamps announce the sunset, to make sure the lamp is accurate if nothing else. He hopes to one day become proficient enough in his lamp making to take commissions.
