Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to get warmer and brighter when you are around it.

And look! It has grown a beautiful silver mane! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

User Description

This hatchling is somewhat silly but fun to watch, because he loves to chase his tail. He gets warmer and brighter with each successive near miss, until finally he manages to bite the enticing fluffiness. His spines get very bright momentarily, then darken rapidly as the pain of his bite is felt and he lets go. Once he spent two hours chasing his tail around a small tree, sometimes slapping himself in the face with his tail and sometimes biting his tail instead.

When asked why he likes to chase his tail, Taylchezur usually shrugs. Upon being pressed about it, he may confess that he is playing a private game with himself, in which his tail is actually stalking him and he must catch it before it tags him. Scholars theorize this is a way for Taylchezur to develop hunting skills; a theory that he also was keeping an eye out for anything approaching him from any direction was debunked after several demonstrations that he was able to be surprised when chasing his tail.
