Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

At first, BrainpanSonata tried to get her new little black hatchling to stick closely with its big brother Angry Hobo in the hopes that he would teach it how to hunt and use magic, but that didn't work out. BrainpanSonata found the hatchling spending just as much time—if not more—with her. What's more, she was surprised to find the black hatchling studying and even imitating her. When she found the nest full of stolen lizard and bird eggs, BrainpanSonata decided that she had no choice but to name the new little hatchling AtanosNapniarb and, smiling, accept it as it was.
