Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Mack met Laurena, his pride and body was wounded by the last female he had loved. Viciously but weakly attacking her, she easily deflected any attack he tried. Then he simply gave up and fell to the ground. Panting, he watched as Laurena licked his wounds clean. Stunned by the common cleaning ritual that the Hellfire Wyverns performed, he instinctually licked her back. When she hummed her satisfaction, he set to rasping his tongue continually over her leathery wings, her back, and her tail. Building a bond together, they eventually snagged Shruikan the Black and tore down the gates of Hell to escape their fiery confines. Following behind them was a host of other Hellfires that wanted to escape as well. When they were captured, they pleaded for fealty to Pillar Of Autumn, which he gladly received. Releasing the clan, Mack and Laurena stayed with Pillar's clan and bred, producing beautiful offspring.
