Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

After summoning what others have called a "pygmy Guardian," Snaku has become a laughingstock, much to her chagrin. Her frustration is compounded by the fact that her mother was the Magma of the Trio that summoned the first Guardian of Nature (which managed to grow to full size), leaving Snaku to feel like she's simply in her mother's shadow. Despite Snaku's best efforts, she wasn't able to find any concrete reason as to why Naysca was unable to grow to her full size, nor was she able to find a way to make Naysca grow. Her frustration with how Naysca turned out has caused her to ignore the poor Guardian at best, and barely hide her resentment towards her at worst. Over time, the feeling became mutual and ironically Snaku's contemptuous demeanor caused Naysca to seek out Snaku's mother in order to learn fire magic, which has only jaded the bitter Magma even more.
