This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

When Sky Bunny first hatched, every dragon thought that she was dead. Every dragon, except Boltore. He gave Sky Bunny a chance to breathe life. She was thankful for him because if he didn't stay up at night to monitor her, she would have been abandoned. As she was getting older, she had become white and had grown wings. Sky Bunny would usually jump around Dimkor while he was sleeping in the night. One night, she heard voices in her head. They were almost forcing her to bite the eggs. "My fangs haven't grown! Even then! I won't be rude to Sir Boltore!" cried the little hatchling. Boltore immediately caught on to Sky Bunny's actions. In the morning, Boltore talked Dimkor into persuading their owner to freeze them. After much convincing, the owner froze Sky Bunny so that she didn't grow at all. "Thank you," the little hatchling (quietly) happily stated, as she no longer heard the voices in her head. She never really wanted to grow up into a "monster" anyways.
