Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is rather pale in color and likes to sleep while balancing on one leg.

And look! It has grown wings and is much brighter! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Once upon a time, a witch who lived in a swamp decided she needed herself a familiar. Cats were too mainstream, she didn't give a hoot about owls, and she hardly needed a toad to add more warts to her complexion--so she settled on a young wyvern hatchling instead, stealing one from a local flock and christening it Sequera. Unfortunately for her, it turned out to be a horrid companion, constantly shrieking, devouring rare potion ingredients, and generally just ripping up the place! The witch soon cast the dragon out, deciding she might have to settle with a cat familiar after all. However, the hag knew better than to so easily dismiss a dragon with a grudge; no sooner had sje kicked out her intended companion than she cursed Sequera to be a hatchling forever, ensuring she would never grow strong and return to take revenge on her. Much to the witch's dismay, however, it turned out a tiny spurned dragon is still quite the force to reckon with, and Sequera still terrorizes her to this day!
