Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Coming from a clutch of twelve siblings, and being the last to hatch, it was a struggle for her mother's attention and to claim food when they were being fed. As such, Pyathius (the name she went by then) had to become more ferocious and violent in order to best her siblings and ensure her own survival. Her litter mate, Deep Glow of Fire, helped her to rise from being the runt of her family, to the strongest where even her mother was forced to notice her. Pyathius received her mother's respect and was strong enough to overthrow the current queen and her heir. Within her weyr--similar to a pride--females were known to be more deadly and ferocious than their male counterparts, coupled with their "mother bear" instinct. Claiming the queen's position as her own, Pyathius renamed the weyr to: Hades Weyr, and gave herself the name: Queen of Hades' Realm.
