Water Walkers are small dragons that are frequently found around bogs and ponds. While they are flightless, they retain the flight sacs and hollow bones of their airborne cousins. These traits, coupled with their extraordinarily long, webbed toes, allow them to stand on top of calm waters, using their small sails to propel them wherever they please. They spend the majority of their lives on the water, retreating to the tops of lily pads when the waters become too rough to float atop.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Skaks is decidedly odd, even by the standards of the Karev Entertainers.  He's continually trying to find new and bizarre ways to risk his life, he thrives on hazard and danger, and he's formed a relationship with a dragon of a completely different breed type.  It doesn't help that he hardly looks like a proper dragon at all, and occasionally some audience members aren't even sure what he is.  During the early years of the monthly variety show, Skaks often felt like the odd one out both on and off the stage, and after a string of failed acts that outnumbered Pytej's, he threatened to quit.  Skaks eventually found his footing, though, and the monthly variety show now wouldn't be the same without the dose of weirdness he brings to his acts.  When not finding creative ways to hurt himself or spending time with his true love, the crimson flare pygmy Raiea, Skaks can be found working on an ambitious side project with close friend Ikadu—retelling old legends for an audience of hundreds.
