Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Inheriting his father's deep and sonorous voice, Gav has discovered a very practical use for it. He already knew that humans and other mammals were prone to getting headaches or in extreme cases nosebleeds when he hummed in their vicinity, but after visiting with his mother one day, he found out that certain frequencies were actually able to affect the creatures of the ethereal plane. With his mother as a guide, Gav slowly learned which sounds calmed angry spirits, which called friendly souls closer, and which warned the predatory ghosts not to mess with him. He can't actually harm any of them, being fully corporeal himself, but so far he never had to back his threats up. Naturally Gav has taken up a guarding position along his mother's side, helping out the Shadow Walkers the best he can.
