Terrae Dragons are primarily herbivores who prefer to eat from the tops of trees. However, due to their massive size, they must rely on small, specialized scales to absorb and convert energy from the sun. Since they live in tightly-knit groups, this form of energy absorption helps preserve the forests in which these dragons reside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Huabei has a terrible affliction for a dragon. At first—when he was still a hatchling—everyone thought that he just had developed a bad cold. But as his breathing didn't get better, even as he matured, and all the usual treatments (like fogging) didn't help, a White named Vanilla Ivy finally managed to diagnose him with a chronic illness: asthma.

Despite Ivy's advice to move to a different climate, Huabei refuses to leave the clan and with the help of the healers he manages alright most of the time. The only exception is, after 50 metres at most, when he tries flying, he has to come down due to shortness of breath .

As cruel as it sounds, the hatchlings of the clan laugh their little behinds off upon seeing a huffing and puffing Terrae crashlanding through the branches. Huabei doesn't hold it against them: they are young and don't know any better and he guesses he IS quite a sight.
