Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Restless, Dark Midnight is always searching for that which lingers on the edge of his memory, a few broken words of song, spoken in a voice that is as soft as it is filled with sorrow. Those are the only clues he has as to why his egg was left abandoned in the midst of a storm, as to who his parents were, and why he was left to die, and the meanings of the draconic screams that cut off the melody his mother once sang him. He was told by others that a massacre had taken place near where he was found, but little was known of who had attacked, or why, and it was his luck in surviving that has given him his pride and bravery. He travels as a mercenary, serving those who fight for a righteous cause, not caring that he is a black dragon, sometimes considered evil, for he only wants to help others, and by doing so, perhaps come closer to the truth of his past. Even though he is reckless, forsaking his own safety time and time again to save another, his luck has seen him through the dark.
