Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Sanana Kleese's name is usually said quickly, slurred together as though it were one word, rather than two—Sananakleese. No one ever calls her just Sanana. Somehow, Sanana Kleese thinks she's meant to be someone the humans call Santa Claus. She doesn't live at the North Pole, nor does she fly a reindeer-drawn sleigh through the air delivering presents, but she thinks she could be Santa since she's red and a little bit of white, just like Santa. So, Sanana Kleese hoards precious trinkets and gems through the year and goes around the caves giving them away on Christmas Day. She has a fondness for cookies and milk and enjoys the caves where she finds these delicacies laid out awaiting her arrival.
