Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sunset Quest helps Follower of the Stars to teleport eggs and hatchlings by doing one perilous thing: he follows it to its destination, then turns back and heads home. This is his job in the Storm Pack, his home. His title is the Escorter, but is better known as the Guiding Wing. He uses his wings to guide the egg if Follower's magic fails, and he carries it to the destination with ease. Although, once, in a rough, dangerous storm, he was guiding an egg, when he was struck by lightning on his right shoulder, and he spiraled to the ground, and tragically, his right wing snapped. It is useless now, and he has a splint of tree limbs which hold the powerless wing up instead.
