Blacktip Dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

SummerSeaSalt was born early summer on the shores of The Ocean. He had no siblings, just his mother, for the rest had been stolen while she lay ill. He was cherished by her, being her only son. She taught him to fly, to fish, to hunt. He became an extremely skilled flier, flying for days at a time. He came into a storm, a hurricane, after flying over The Ocean for two days, it threw him to a nearby island and thrashed him into the rocks. He was missing for months, and his mother died of sadness over that time for she was convinced he had perished. After seven months of recovering, he was still nowhere close to his former glory, but he made it back to his home. Finding his mother's skeleton, he mourned and mourned, but his heart was hardened. Today, sailors fear the island that injured him, because he returned there after finding her, and anybody he sees from the island, he lures in, and that is the end of them.
