Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Now there are even more vines. Perhaps something is happening?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Petrified Sapling is one of the many hatchlings frozen by Crocoitia (a magi dragoness).  He asked Crocoitia to freeze him so that he would never be stuck in one spot like adult vine dragons are.  He accepted Wulfenite's (Crocoitia's mate) invitation to come live with the dragons so that he would always have other hatchlings to play with. Although he never wants to be stuck in the earth like an adult, he still loves to dig and hide for short periods before jumping out to scare the adult dragons that he lives near.
