Moonstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. They are nocturnal and gather energy through the absorption of moonlight with their orbs. They seem to glow with a lunar light and are a very gentle breed, feeding off of plants and the moons’ power.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Proud, stately Yin, the unofficial "leader" of the Lunaris tribe, firmly believes that peace is what all true dragons strive for. As he sees it, his role is to keep the other Moonstones safe and happy, not to impose restrictions on them. He acts as an adviser and protector rather than a monarch, settling disputes among the tribe and making sure that someone is always keeping watch for danger. He has a good temper and a healthy sense of humor, although he can be cranky when the task of keeping the peace has taken a bit too much out of him. One or two of the other Lunaris dragons are always ready to take over for Yin for a while when he needs a rest.

Whenever Yin seems to "meet his match", be it a particularly difficult problem or an unusually stubborn foe, the other Lunaris dragons jokingly claim that he has finally found "Yang".
