Shallow Water Dragons are found in tropical regions where the water is warm. They use their magic to hunt, using bubbles to capture small fish and animals. Their large, webbed feet make them excellent swimmers and they are able to move at very high speeds. Due to their bright color, these dragons are easily spotted in the lagoons where they live.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Magi' Kar is a... "special" dragon. He likes digging holes in the muddy floor of his small, in-cave pond and building little statues with the mud, decorating them with little twigs, leaves, and flowers grown by his friend, (who has no other friends) Pede-quin. He delights in staring at passersby, motionless, until they come close. Then he starts to slam his head against the water until they are drenched.

His mother, Miamar'a, says he just never shook off his playful, hatchling-like nature, but everyone else seems to think otherwise. He is always whispering to his statues and begging his master to let the Waterhorse and Striped River dragons come play with him. Nevertheless, he loves games as much as any other dragon and has never lost a game of chess.
