When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

A child who desired a dragon once stole one--a little blue wyrm from the tank of a street merchant. But dragons grow, and so soon the overly large hatchling was dumped into a sewer to avoid the prying eyes of parents. It was a few days later that the beast's unhappy mewls attracted the attention of a resident dragon keeper, who freed it from its rank prison and readied to loose it into the sea. She had enough of its kind already, and had little desire for another. But the dragon would not be abandoned twice; it twined itself tightly around her legs, rubbing affectionately against her, refusing to leave. And so with a resigned sigh the woman carried it home, where it grew into a proud and loyal beast, and one of her most beloved companions; the two can often be seen capering down the beach, often with a small human apprentice--the very one who once discarded the dragon, and looked desperately for him ever after--happily in tow.
