Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

After her mother told their master that she was a girl, Suki left with Violette for some amount of months. When she finally came back, she had matured, grown her wings, but had not fully grown. Their master stood over her, pronouncing, with her mother's agreement, that her name would be Komakai Youji, then froze her, binding her to hatchlinghood forever. Komakai stood, startled, in the aftershock as the spell wore off. She galloped to her mother, sobbing. After a couple of years, she has accepted that she'll never be like her mother, and now has found quite a few advantages to her size, and no longer hates their master, but thanks her for it.

A young Japanese dragon, she was named by her master for her small stature, her name meaning 'Small Child.'
