Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

For as long as it's construction was completed, Hoven has been watching the castle said to house hundreds of dragons all under the command of a human. He and a few other dragons mostly prowl on the outside of what seems to be the castle's territory, never daring to fully go into the area after previously losing dragons in there. They diligently watch, trying to understand what goes on in there and how one human could do something like this, but they've yet to find anything, as they haven't even seen the human in question.
