Ridgewing Dragons live just below the snow level on the upper slopes of mountains. They are a friendly, playful breed and enjoy dancing in wind currents near their homes or plummeting down into valleys from great heights. Their wings, by far their most striking feature, grow in fin-like ridges along their backs. While their bodies lack markings to blend better with their surroundings, a ridgewing’s wings have bright markings in the colors of the flowers that grow in their mountain habitat. Occasionally different-colored individuals can be found, but they are rare because their striking coloring offers little protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Raja has a very dark view of the world, ever since she witnessed a meteor crash into a nest of dragonlings, killing all but one, Teja. Afterwards, Raja became unbelievably protective of Teja, convinced one day that bright light she brought to Raja's world would be extinguished.

A bit selfish at times, she would rather exterminate all three Mexa clans than lose Teja. They are full of corruption and blood anyways. Raja is well informed on their dirty little secrets. There's a serial killer disguised behind a pretty face, a racist prick who almost killed a hatchling, several spoiled brats who couldn't be bothered to care about anyone else, and even the son and heir to Creorluna hiding in the clans. The Elders are putting their personal problems above their clan's and while Blu claims he is so much better, he exiled another just because he didn't want to risk loosing power.

Teja is not her only close friend despite all of this darkness. Blacieo has also wormed his way into her thick heart.
