Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Contrary Caoimhe is, as her name suggests, a very contrary little White hatchling. She is an extremely stubborn dragon and cannot be made to do anything if she doesn't want to do it. When Caoimhe isn't resisting to an adult dragon's suggestion to do some activity or chore, she can often be seen lounging idly on the sun soaked sand of a particular bay which lies beside "The Dreaming Sea". Surprisingly, she doesn't like water much, and it is really the texture and warmth of the sand that make the bay a favourite haunt of hers.

Contrary Caoimhe prevented herself aging of her own accord; she cast an anti-aging spell upon herself. She is quite a smart dragon, for all her whining about doing things. Caoimhe realised at a young age that the lives of the adult dragons were often preoccupied by worrying. Avoiding such stress was her motive for stopping herself from growing. In her state of perpetual youth, Caoimhe will always have time to be contrary.
