Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It keeps trying to catch fish in a nearby pond.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Born of two infamous parents, Bandit soon not only matched his parent's legacies, but far exceeded them. A cheeky rapscallion from the day of his birth, he plundered his way across one ocean after another in his quest for loot, putting his deceptively innocent age and uncanny intelligence to use for the causes of himself and himself only. Building a pirate crew through promises of gold, shows of bravery, and no small amount of strength (for even an adolescent dragon can stand nearly as tall as a man), he would have pilfered his way up into a truly terrifying adulthood--if not for the efforts of one small wizard. Fearing what such a ferocious youngster could do as a full-sized dragon, the mage sealed him forever in hatchling form, and needless to say Bandit was none too pleased about that. Determined to make up with awesomeness for what he'll forever lack in size, Bandit's now an even fiercer pirate than he ever was before--and determined to hunt down the sorcerer who spited him, too.
