When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Vapour Colbalt likes the sun. When she is asleep, she always sleeps in the one part of the lake where the moon is reflected. In the day, she likes hunting out the places where sun shines through the thick trees at the border of the lake, making small diamond-shaped reflections. Her favourite food is fish and she is good at hunting them. As she can't go on land easily, it's rather lucky. She isn't usually picky, but when it comes to the subject of mates, she always likes others of her own kind. She waits for the day when she can find her 'perfect mate'. She dislikes Skywings very much, and her master owning one hasn't improved her taste for them. When her master's skywing was young, Vapour was always the bully to what her master described as her 'younger brother'. Despite being the oldest of her master's dragons, she has never given birth to an egg.
