Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

W'yen, the Sunsong Amphiptere, is quite a fair amount more sensitive and lonely than most male dragons are found to be.

However, as the males of many species will often do, W'yen had scented and tracked until he finally found the creature that had been eluding him for quite some time; the captivating Amphiptere that shared not only his awe-inspiring scales, but his plaintive cries and songs -  Hope's Memory. The dragoness had made her nest long ago in a desperately poor village's bell tower, and now they both take to the skies when they feel the villagers' emotions bordering on hopelessness, which often causes tears of joy in some of the more entranced individuals.
