Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Electric yellow scales shimmer brightly across its belly, and an even brighter spark adorns its tail.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Shockwayve is one of Phoenix's dragons. He is a clever and sometimes sneaky hatchling that loves to play pranks and has a tough time not electrocuting things at the touch. He finds enjoyment and amusement in lightning bugs, which he personally believes to be reincarnated dragons of his own breed. Phoenix keeps a jar of them next to her bed, and often he will try to sneak into her room to watch the insects as they buzz and crawl around, flashing their lights. Unfortunately, he emits a good deal of his own light and usually wakes Phoenix up before long, so he needs a new alternative.
