Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Daiachi is the only one who can get within 3 feet of Arknorak without getting bitten or hit with a rock. The only other dragon who can get close to Daiachi without him running away is Hyara The Hero, a kind pink dragon, who saved him when he was stricken. Hyara is like a guardian to him, and Daichi's voice is only heard once every two months. His name is pronounced Dye-Ah-Chee. No one knows who or what struck poor Daiachi, or even when. He never speaks to anyone but Hyara The Hero, who never tells anyone's secrets, or Arknorak, who won't let anyone BUT Daiachi get near him, let alone speak to him.
