Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glows with some form of arcane energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Beamingpaw is an Apprentice Dragon, meaning that instead of growing up and taking on full responsibilities, she will stay a hatchling forever. She had watched as her friends, a yet unnamed dark green dragon hatchling and Velvetbreath, a purple dragon hatchling died. Fearing for herself, and knowing that she had but three hours left, Beamingpaw appealed to the owner. The owner, who was already sad that the others had died, gave Beamingpaw the choice of freezing. The young dragon decided for it. So forever she will train under her mentor, Oceanflash, and counts her blessings each day for her life.
