Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
Skraahn is somewhat small and thin as copper dragon hatchlings go. However, he keeps up with the other hatchlings surprisingly well, using his wits and wiry muscles to do things where other hatchlings use sheer brawn. He does particularly well at games requiring imagination because of his creative approach to physical tasks in general.
