Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Electric yellow scales shimmer brightly across its belly, and an even brighter spark adorns its tail.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Very exploratory and rebellious, Static Storm snuck away from her handler, during the confusion of a bunch of new eggs arriving. Sneaking away was only the beginning. After that, Static headed straight for the one place that Static's parents and Kurei had warned the little dragon to never go—Storm dragon territory. Static ended up getting hit by lightning, due to the electricity going through Static's body attracting the lightning. From that point on, Static Storm stopped aging, remaining in a hatchling form.
