Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glows brightly, and seems to prefer warm areas.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Originally mistaken by her owner to be a really bizarre-looking cat, this tiny hatchling can often be found prowling around at dusk, slinking about under blankets and chairs and making quick work of any slippers unfortunate enough to oppose her. Thankfully she is not so rambunctious during the day, preferring to curl up in the fireplace ashes to sleep for hours on end. Her owner can only hope she'll discontinue this habit before she's house sized.
