Fire Gem Dragons are a colorful, flamboyant breed often found in hot climates, particularly around active volcanoes. Their broad tails store the flames they breathe, which are colored by the heavy amount of minerals in the water they drink. These dragons come in a variety of colors, and will collect shiny trinkets and stones that match their own coloration. Despite their hoarding tendencies, though, Fire Gem dragons are social and will often congregate in groups and show off their collections while fawning over the stones their friends and rivals have gathered, occasionally arranging trades.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ellemyndt is brash and opinionated. He likes everything to be just so. The only correct way to do anything is his way of doing it, as far as he's concerned. Anyone who disagrees with him is seen as either a stubborn rival contradicting him for its own sake, or else a benighted fool incapable of comprehending the superior example Ellemyndt is trying to set. Naturally, he isn't very popular. Still, he means well. Beneath the bossy exterior is a worrying perfectionist who is trying very hard to live up to an impossible standard of behavior and performance. He isn't being intentionally domineering; rather, Ellemyndt sincerely believes that there will be dire consequences for doing things 'the wrong way'. He wants life to be as good as it can be for everybody, and he gets frustrated when others don't seem to listen or care. The more empathic dragons at the Breedery can see through his surface behavior to the caring motivations beneath. As such, Ellemyndt isn't totally without friends.
