Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She had possessed a wonderful life.

The emphasis was on "had." It had been wonderful; warm skies and the mighty river roaring beneath, the jungle alive and fragrant all around her, bounty and plenty awaiting wherever she rested her wings. But a few huntsman who believed all too strongly that seeing her kind brought good luck thought that possessing parts of them might do so even better. She was hunted, crippled, thrown into a cage and kept alive only on a last minute decision that the continued harvest of her blood and scales might prove more profitable for the time than ripping out her organs. She spent a decade within that small prison, until greed at last saw them plan to harvest her heart--

A powerful bronze dragon appeared, ripping her tormentors to shreds and setting her free. But she was not as she once was. Broken in mind and soul, she lives under the bronze's care now as little but a shadow, the scars inside her refusing to heal.
