Kohraki Dragons silently stalk their prey, concealed within the thick, rolling fog that blankets autumn forests. They prey on the lost and unwary, luring them close by mimicking familiar voices and sounds before swallowing them whole, leaving no trace behind. Bustling, warm villages have been left silent and cold after particularly foggy nights, their inhabitants having fallen prey to swarms of Kohraki Dragons. After, these dragons disappear as quickly as they come, leaving behind only unease and footprints.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Oraes lives in the dry region of desert and forest far away from the two major cities. Humans and dragons die often enough here, which makes it easy for him to mimic their voices afterwards, filling prey with false hope before he steals them away. When desperate, he mimics calls of deer and birds that would attract them, though he must be careful not to draw a hungry dragon near. He stays far from Feruye's colosseum in the desert, where vicious dragons and humans go to battle, instead preferring the forests where things are a little less violent. Oraes has an odd soft spot for sweets of any kind, tricking or bargaining with any humans he can to get their sweets. If neither works, or if he really needs a meal, he'll just eat them anyway. Oraes fears dragons, fleeing any time he encounters one. He also fears the screeching of howler drakes, as the only ones he knows of belong to a pitfire who would gladly take him for a meal.
