Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lan is the firstborn daughter of Tengfei and Maizoukin. Her parents chose to name her "Orchid" in Chinese, in reference to her lovely color. She is a lively and lovely dragon, and her parents' pride and joy. She is a very girly dragon, and loves flowers, poetry, singing, dancing, and romance. As much as she loves it, she's not very good at singing. Her male cousins always joke that a braying mule is more musical than she is. She is however, very good at composing lovely poetry. She enjoys writing love poems on small pieces of parchment, and leaving them for her mate to find. Lan is mated to Seiren, the love of her life. They have been best friends ever since they both arrived at the bachelorette group. Soon however, they realized that it was much more than a friendship. They were in love. Lan loves nothing more than having "girly time" with Seiren. They especially enjoy picnicking together, and have a special place near a waterfall. They are madly in love, and always will be.
