Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lucian Evolos reigns as the Vyx Weyr Vampire King, a Clan that exists as a subculture of the Weyr. He exists alongside the Weyr Leader, Midnitath Vance, but they take no orders from each other, and in fact rarely come into contact with one another. Lucian married Midzetath Vance, a princess of the Weyr, and turns all her eggs into Vampires as a sort of tithe from Midnitath to Lucian. In return, the Vampire Clan protects the Weyr at night while most of the dragons are sleeping. While the pact is unnerving to some, most find it beneficial, as their stolen children never really leave them and instead become elite defenders of the Weyr.

Lucian Evolos himself is calm, dedicated, well-spoken, and extremely intelligent. He speaks with a proper tongue and holds a professional air about him. However, he is quick to anger, though it is near impossible to tell. He holds grudges for centuries and quietly plots the downfall of those who slight him.
