Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is very aggressive, and has brilliant turquoise markings all over its body.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Heni's name means "rogue".  Impressively, this shrewd young dragon survives (mostly) on his own.  Presumably there was a parent around during the very first part of his life, but he has led a solitary existence for as long as anybody has been paying attention.  He does scavenge what he can from the leavings of the adult spitfires at the fringes of his territory, but he has also made kills of his own.  Far-sighted dragons confirm seeing him downing prey two or three times his size.  It is hoped there will not be too much trouble with Heni as he matures, for he is likely to be a gritty competitor.
