Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Parath enjoyed his life. He was good with humans and dragons. Everyone liked him due to his friendliness. His home was in a cave on a high mountain peak. He enjoyed flying and occasionally swam in the rivers.

One day when he was perched atop his peak he looked down and saw a water dragon swimming in the water. Unlike their airborne cousins, water dragons could not fly, but they could swim faster than any dragon. There was rumors that water dragons were related to another waterborne dragon that glided across the surface of the water.

He watched to see what the dragon would do. He saw it turn around quickly several times, dive straight down, and then it was gone. Somehow he had a familiar feeling. He remembered back to when he was a hatchling at a different peak and saw another hatchling of a different species plunge into the water, and get saved by the floating kind of dragon.
