Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts winter weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pum'pest has had a very interesting life-most notably in the fact that her mom and dad are both Autumn dragons, as are all her siblings. Naturally, this has made the poor little girl feel very awkward and nervous for wanting to romp around and play in the frigid snow rather then shiver inside all day and bob for apples like the rest of her family. Her parents reassured her over and over that her different color and nature didn't matter, but still she tried to copy them, staying inside as long as she could and trying to act like the colorful leaves they'd saved from fall were more interesting then the snow flakes outside. But all this copying left her feeling quite sad and wretched-until she discovered one part of Autumn that she absolutely loved. Pumpkin carving!

Her pumpkins were so elaborately carved and decorated that her awed siblings gave her the nickname of the Pumpkin Punk, which later shortened to Pum'punk, which later turned to Pum'pest because of her happy, chattering nature.
