Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Show Gun and Appley Cider are both vying for Cyclone's affections. Show Gun argues that he is more refined than Cider, and is much more handsome. He also often points out how Cider and his ancestors were named after alcohol, whereas his are named after guardians of precious treasures. He likes to show off, especially when Cyclone is near, and he often does things like gliding through the lake, or doing complicated tricks. His favorite stunt is "The Water Cyclone", which is him bursting out of the lake into the air, spinning, with the water droplets sparkling around him. He and Cider often cross paths, and Show Gun either ignores him, or insults his "Boring, drab scales" or his "Crude name". Show Gun shows his love for Cyclone by bringing her flowers and the occasional chocolate, though he often meets Cider along the way and the two start arguing about whose gift is best. Show Gun is determined to win Cyclone's love, even if he has to fight that pest Cider!
