Spotted Greenwings are relatively small nocturnal dragons. Easily recognizable by the fleshy appendages growing off of their head and rump, they are most commonly seen in forests at night, leaping and soaring from tree to tree. While generally social, spotted greenwings are very quiet and rarely make any sort of vocalization. Their bodies are unusually warm to the touch, though they are unable to breathe fire. Greenwings are voracious feeders and will consume nearly any living thing that they can fit in their mouths.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. The Spotted Greenwings have always been the symbol of the aristocratic Zohai family ever since an ancient ancestor of theirs managed to tame a pair of these nocturnal dragons and gave them a home on the family's surrounding lands. What makes Oureilia, a descendant of this first domesticated pair of Greenwings so notable is the fact that she is responsible for one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the Zohai family. Around the time Oureilia matured, several priceless artifacts began vanishing from the Zohai family estate. The family blamed their servants, their guests, and even their own children and offered a reward for anyone who could find the mysterious thief, but nobody was ever found—until the youngest son of the Zohai family caught their beloved dragon Oureilia in the act of stealing his mother's jewelry. The place where Oureilia hid her treasures was never found.
