Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nobody who has seen Quoj in the midst of a battle of wits would ever guess at her past. Nobody who has seen her chatting animatedly with friends could begin to fathom the horrors that she can now barely remember.

She was born on the island of Toorik, Heimclann's greatest city, amongst the boisterous and dramatic Damon family, the Fellfires that rescued her egg from the rocks. They treated her as one of their own, and as a hatchling she played with the other Damon children from dawn till dusk. As she came of age they admired the shimmering pattern of her wings, and when she saw a glimmering red nebula in the night sky, all were impressed when her scales changed to match.

Quoj doesn't talk about her father very often. All her friends know is that when she left Toorik with her mate, Nsokarr was the reason. Heimclann and Damon were kind to her. Nsokarr was not.
