Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nikki knows he's of Japanese origin but was again rescued by the woman in the black hood. As a hatchling it was difficult to keep him on the ground but he needed to be here because of the food and care that the woman in the black hood provided. She taught him how to hunt for himself during adolescence then was free to leave once his other set of wings grew in and he was able to fly off. Though Nikki spends all of his time in the air he comes back to the sanctuary to rest and help the woman in black hood as much as he can though the other adult dragons help out a lot as it is. Nikki is mostly the one that brings back orphaned hatchlings and eggs to put in the care of the woman in the black hood.
