Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Diamond Strike is a strong and agile warrior. He's very quick on his feet and can take down enemy warriors faster than any soldier other than Jabarl.

He and Jabarl don't get along very well. While Jabarl shields his emotions, Diamond Strike openly expresses sadness, joy and anger. He says that Jabarl should loosen up more. When Diamond wants to take action, Jabarl says that they need to strategize and think first. Diamond always tells him that while he's doing that, the enemies will take over and action is the only thing to do. Diamond thinks that Jabarl is a stick in the mud while Jabarl thinks that Diamond is a fool.

But behind this life of war, Diamond is secretly in love with the gentle hatchling caretaker, Strikeya.
