Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Terratin puts her solid build to good use as the permanent guard for her clan's nursery. She sits, blocking the entrance of the cave to all except the members of her clan, making sure intruders don't get in and the hatchlings don't get out. As a game the hatchlings will sometimes have a scavenger hunt to see who can find the best rocks for Terratin. It is well known that the female has a huge soft spot for all younglings and although she doesn't say much, the other dragons know that anyone who would endanger her charges would be gone before they could do any damage. Her mate Quartzar, a geode dragon will sometimes come and take watches with her, although most of his time is spent in the treasury.
