Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It was born with a full set of wings.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

When Panther was born, he inherited some of his father's wonderful personality. Known for helping around the cave, Panther is very popular among the adults. The hatchlings, on the other hand . . . not so much. This is because Panther is always informing the Dragon Council when his fellows are getting into mischief. This can't be called anything but tattling, a trait Panther discovered all on his own.
