Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Winter's skin is always cold, so in order to pet her and not freeze, her tamer must wear gloves. This seems to make Winter somewhat sad; she has never felt her tamer's "real" hand unlike the other dragons in the cave. This dragon has a regal appearance and a silly, quirky personality. She loves to play with the other dragons, and has even gotten Priestess Demona engaged in a game of ball. It didn't last long, though, and it was clear Demona was bored, as she struck out at Winter. Still, the fact that Winter got the vampire to do anything but skulk and sleep was a feat in itself. Winter loves to hunt and is eager to do so once night falls, freezing her prey until it is almost too tough to chew.
